I'm pretty sure that even the largest iPod will fit in a pocket or purse. I can understand locking down your laptop in a library so you can make trips to the bookshelf or bathroom, but if you have to leave your post, why not just slip the iPod in your pocket? Heck, I bet a pair of scissors could cut through that tiny cable.
